Dinner parties, women artists & mousse au chocolat

I love to entertain and am quite in my element with a table full of friends, family and good food. For many people, however, the thought of throwing a dinner party is enough to send their nerves into a frenzy. Whether or not they are adept in the kitchen isn’t the issue. It’s the fear of failure. Of being judged.

Believe me, no one is expecting Michelin-starred cuisine when they come to your house, so relax. With a little planning, you can host a stress-free dinner party that leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the company of your guests.

Today’s post will start with an example of one of my recent six-course dinner parties. Most of the food was made in advance or didn’t require much cooking. (Bear in mind we’re going through a heatwave, so that’s a good thing.) I’ll be sharing my recipe for an eggless mousse au chocolat with fleur de sel, and while it’s setting in the fridge we’ll have a look at the life and work of French Belle Époque painter Louise Abbéma.

On y va!
